Overview
This article explains how to create a product with inventory tracking enabled from the Products & Services section.
Inventory tracking allows you to monitor product quantities and manage inventory based on units or weight.
Enable Inventory Tracking Setting (Optional)
Before creating products, you can enable the following setting:
Navigate to:
SalesVu.com → Locations → Location Settings
Enable the toggle:
Make inventory setting "Track this item in inventory in another unit" default on Add Product page
This setting automatically selects Track this item in inventory in another unit as the default inventory option when adding a new product.
How to Create a Product Tracked Under Inventory
- Log in to SalesVu.com
- Click Products & Services or Master Catalog from the left-hand menu
- Click Add Product at the top right
- Enter the required product information:
- Product Name
- Price (and price type)
- Category
Select Product Type
Under Type, select the appropriate product type:
Sellable Product
If the product type is set to Sellable, the following inventory options are available:
- Do not track this item in inventory
- Track this item in inventory by weight
- Track this item in inventory in another unit
Select the appropriate option based on how inventory should be tracked.
Non-Sellable Product
Non-Sellable products are typically used for modifiers or internal items.
If the product type is set to Non-Sellable, the following inventory options are available:
- Do not track this item in inventory
- Track this item in inventory
Complete Product Information
Continue filling out the remaining product details:
- Tax Bracket
- Vendor
- Weight
- UPC Code
- SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
- Modifier Groups
- Components
Save the Product
Click Save to create the product.
