What Is It?
Online Order Throttling allows you to control how many online orders can be placed within a specific time window. This ensures your kitchen or production team is never overloaded and that pickup times remain realistic.
What It Brings You
Prevents sudden spikes in online orders
Keeps prep times accurate and manageable
Allows customers to select only the pickup times your team can realistically fulfill
Reduces delays, congestion, and service errors
How It Works
You define:
A time block (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes)
Which products are restricted
How many units of the product can be produced per block
When a block reaches its limit, the system automatically pushes new online orders into the next available time slot.
Example:
A pizza shop can produce 10 pizzas every 10 minutes. If in-store orders already use 5 slots, online ordering can be limited to the remaining 5. Once those 5 are taken, the customer will be offered the next available pickup block.
How to Enable Throttling
Go to SalesVu.com → Web Store Settings → Online Throttling
Select your Time Block (5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes)
Enter the throttling quantity next to each category
Save your settings — throttling will now apply to all incoming online orders.
Pickup Time Selection / Delayed Orders
Customers will only see pickup times that match your throttling limits. When blocks fill up, later pickup times will automatically be shown.
