To add new products that can appear on your POS app, kiosks, or E-commerce platforms, follow the steps below:
-
Sign in to SalesVu.com.
-
Click on "Products & Services" or "Master Catalog" on the left vertical menu.
-
Click on "Add Product".
-
**Enter the 'Selling Price'.
-
Select the 'Price Type':
- Fixed: A regular and constant product price (e.g., $5.00).
-
Variable: Allows you to enter the product price when adding it to the order from the POS or SalesVu portal.
- Note: The 'Variable' price type is not applicable for E-commerce.
-
Enter a product description (primarily intended for display on the E-commerce platform and self-ordering kiosk).
-
Select a category:
- If you haven't created a category yet, click on 'Select' > enter a new category name > 'Add'.
-
Select the 'Type' of product:
- Sellable: The product will appear on your POS app and can be sold directly.
- Non-sellable: The product will not appear on your POS app but can be tracked in inventory. This setup allows you to create a modifier or a component of a sellable product.
-
Select a 'Tax Bracket' if it differs from your default tax bracket.
- For more information on creating tax brackets, click here.
-
Enter product weight (optional):
- Purpose: Entering the product weight is essential for tracking shipping costs by weight when the product is sold online.
- This weight information is used to calculate shipping charges during online checkout, ensuring customers are charged accurately based on the product's weight.
-
Enable the 'Input Actual Quantity From POS' option if you want to use weight scale integration and import the weight of an item after measuring it on the POS via an integrated scale.
-
Select an 'Inventory Setting', a unit, and a vendor name (optional):
-
You have three options in the 'Inventory Setting':
-
Track this item in inventory by unit:
- Use this option to track items by custom units such as 'bottles', 'kegs', 'cases', etc.
- You can create and assign these custom units to your products.

-
Track this item in inventory by weight:
- Select this option to track items based on weight measurements.

- Use this option if you don't need to track the product's inventory.
- This option can be used to disable inventory tracking for items when needed.
-
-
-
Enter UPC and SKU codes.
-
Configure the 'Cashback product' setting if applicable.
- This setting allows your customer to purchase this item by paying with their credit card. After the credit card transaction is completed, the POS system will open the cash drawer so that you can give cash back to the customer.
-
Select or add modifier groups and modifiers.
- For more information on modifiers, click here.
-
Select or add components.
- For more information on components, click here.

By following these steps, you can successfully add new products to SalesVu that will appear on your POS app, kiosks, and E-commerce platforms. This ensures your product offerings are up-to-date across all sales channels.
Note:
- Variable Price Type: Remember that the 'Variable' price type is not applicable for E-commerce platforms; it's only suitable for products sold via the POS or SalesVu portal.
- Non-Sellable Products: These are useful for creating modifiers or components that are tracked in inventory but not sold directly to customers.
- Weight Scale Integration: If you're using a weight scale, make sure it's compatible and properly configured to work with the POS system.
