How to Calculate Cost in SalesVu?
Cost is the expenditure required to create and sell products and services or to acquire assets. When sold or consumed, a cost is charged to expense. In the case of an asset, the charge to expense could be significantly deferred.
Let's say a business bought caps on two separate occasions at two different prices during a month:
100 caps at $10
200 caps at $20
At the end of the month, the business had sold 150 caps.
We used the costing from our first transaction when we purchased 100 caps at $10 each and 50 caps at $20 each.
So, after selling 150 caps:
Cost Column = (100 caps x $10 cost) +(50 caps x $20 cost) =2000
