Overview
This feature allows servers to send items to the kitchen by category or subcategory (e.g., Starters, Main Courses, Desserts). It gives more control over when different parts of a meal are prepared, making it ideal for dine-in restaurants, especially in multi-course dining.
Why It’s Useful
Improves meal pacing: Servers can fire courses in sequence, ensuring guests receive starters, mains, and desserts at the right time.
Reduces kitchen confusion: Only the selected category is fired, preventing accidental early preparation.
Works with Schedule Fire: Combines with the existing schedule fire feature for maximum flexibility.
How It Works
On the Order screen, items can be filtered by category or subcategory.
Servers choose which group of items to fire (e.g., all “Starters”).
The selected category items are sent to the kitchen, while other categories remain on hold until fired later.
Steps to Use
Setup: Enable the feature
This feature requires a setting to be enabled for the Order screen to display the category/subcategory filter:
Log in to salesvu.com and navigate to Location Settings
Go to Receipt Settings
Enable Allow items selection from kitchen printing
Using the feature on the POS app:
Create an order with items across different categories (e.g., Starter, Main, Dessert)
On the Order screen, open the Filter option
Select the category or subcategory you want to fire (e.g., “Starters”)
Tap one of the following options:
Fire → Prints the selected items on the kitchen receipt and sends them to Incoming
⏰ Fire (Schedule Fire) → Allows you to schedule the items to be fired at a later time.
Repeat for the next course as needed.
