In SalesVu, you can set up a feature that allows your customers to either leave a donation by rounding up their order total or simply round up the amount (without leaving a donation) if you don’t use pennies as change. This works both on the POS app and your E-commerce page.
You can choose how to round up - either to the nearest whole dollar or to the nearest $0.05 - depending on how much you want customers to contribute.
How to enable the feature:
1. Log into salesvu.com
2. On the left vertical menu, click on 'Location Settings' > 'General Settings'
3. Scroll down the page to locate the 'Round Up Payments' setting and select whether you want to round up to the whole $ amount or 0.05 only.
Round up to the nearest whole dollar
If a customer’s order total is $12.34, it will round up to $13.00.
The donation here is $0.66 (the difference between $13.00 and $12.34).
Round up to the nearest 0.05
This rounds the total to the nearest multiple of $0.05 instead of a whole dollar.
For example:
$12.34 → $12.35 (round up by $0.01)
How to round up payments for donations on the POS app
1. Sync all your apps with SalesVu.com by touching on the gear icon on the POS app > 'Sync with SalesVu.com'
2. Once you start a new order and add items to it, touch on the 'round' icon located above the order details
3. The system will add a donation, which will display in the order details and on the printed receipt, and the totals will be adjusted automatically.
Automatically Add a Donation
1. Using the 0.05 rounding option
If you have chosen to round up to the nearest $0.05 instead of the whole dollar, the system will add a smaller donation so the total is rounded to the nearest multiple of $0.05. For example:
$12.34 → $12.35 (donation $0.01)
$12.36 → $12.40 (donation $0.04)
This donation will also appear in the order details and on the printed receipt, and the totals will be adjusted automatically.
How to view your round up payments on reports
You can view the donations on the Z Report, Orders Report, All-in-One Report, and Shift Report.
Note:
If you round up to the nearest whole dollar, the additional amount will appear as “Donations” in the reports.
If you round up to $0.05, it will show up as “Adjusted Amount” instead.
Z Report: Run the report and locate the line “Donations.”
- Orders Report: Expand the report to see the item “Donation” and its value.
Here is an example of rounding up to $0.05: it will appear as “Adjusted Amount” instead.
